Track & Field Club Results

2007

Alice Back a pupil of Lockerbie Academy and a member of Annan & District Athletics Club has been selected to attend the National Training Camp on Saturday 1st December at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. 

This selection was due to her performances in the discus, shot and javelin during the past season. Alice is currently ranked third in Scotland in her age group of under 15 girls all this has been achieved in her very first year of training. Congratulations Alice keep up the good work and all the very best for the future.


 

 

 

During the year at various open grade meetings, district and national championships the junior athletes performed extremely well winning over 180 medals between them. Many new club records were also set. The presentation of awards was held on Wednedsday November 7th at the Annan Academy Games Hall and was presented by coach Jim Sloan. He would like to congratulate all the young athletes on their outstanding achievements throughout the year as well as thank their parents for all the help given during the season.

Congratulations to the following Junior members who set new club records and also to all those who obtained wins as well as personal bests at the Carlisle Aspatria Open Grade Meeting on 25th March 07 and Border Harriers Open Grade meeting on 1st April 2007.

On the 13th/14th January 2007 at the Kelvin Hall Glasgow in the Scottish Indoor Track & Field Championships Collette Irving took the silver medal in the Under 17 girls Shot. Jemma Hunter was 6th.

At the same venue Alice Back was 4th in the Under 15 girls Shot .

Jaqueline Pringle gained good experience in the u/13 girls 800metres just failing to reach the final.

On the 8th February 2007 at the Scottish Schools Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall Glasgow Collette Irving performed well once again to take the silver medal in the under 16 girls shot.

Jim Sloan was in action once again at the Scottish Masters Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall and claimed victory in the Shot and the High Jump. He was pipped in the 60 metre sprint and had to be content with the Silver medal in this event.

Winter junior training is held on Wednesday Evenings 6.30-8.00pm at Newington Sports Centre and Sunday mornings 10.30 – 12 noon at Everholm Track. Old and new members always welcome.
